The Miracle of the New Creation

Salvation, our new life, and our hope for eternal life are true miracles.

With a Subtitle: Salvation, our new life, and our hope for eternal life are true miracles.

A brief Excerpt: The article explores the concept of the New Creation, drawing parallels between Ezekiel’s prophecy of the dead coming back to life and the spiritual rebirth experienced through salvation. It emphasizes the transformative power of being born again, likening it to a miracle where believers become temples for the Holy Spirit.

There are many Bible verses that evoke powerful visual images in my mind. Or perhaps that trigger my imagination’s attempt to produce an image that leads to a series of what I think are what that image means. Like …

Ezekiel 37:14: 'I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it,' says the Lord.

Or this verse, which is overlooked but is an essential idea for us to ponder as it applies to our identity.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV): Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

There are plenty of clues from the prophets about the Second Coming. Plus, Jesus gives us many insight for what we are to expect. But unlike Ezekiel, who didn’t truly understand what the Lord was pointing to, it is more clear in our time.

Christian culture has a bad habit of ignoring the supernatural side of our identities. The easy, practical information for living a good Christian life (which is important) is overwhelmingly the focus of many mainstream congregations. The joy of the side of our identities that points to the Heaven-bound part of our destiny can often be a difficult doctrinal subject to preach about.

Let me point to the meaning of Ezekiel’s prophecy. It is a picture of the New Creation. The dead coming back to life. That’s an incredible miracle!

So why is the New Creation so important and different from Ezekiel’s prophecy? It isn’t if you can visualize our spirits having bones. But being born again is very much a miracle, like Ezekiel raising the bones to life. Sometimes we discount the process of leading someone to Jesus. We tend to just think that it’s awesome and then hand them the discipleship curriculum.

There’s a resurrection taking place. The bones of our spirits are walking out of the tomb! Jesus has created a new person. We may look the same, but we’re not. We have been changed into a temple for the Holy Spirit. I don’t know how you could recognize this, but I would almost bet you that our DNA has been changed as well.

When was the last time you experienced that transformation? What changed? First of all, your destination went from eternal darkness to eternal joy and light. Jesus’s blood has put new flesh on your bones. Every part of you is now alive, both spiritually and, outwardly.

We are walking miracles. Which makes it wrong to say, “I’ve never seen a miracle before.”
