With a Subtitle: From the Biblical verses, Titus 1:2 and Hebrews 6:18.
A brief Excerpt: God’s truthfulness provides a steadfast anchor for believers, empowering them to confidently read Scripture, pray, and claim His promises.
There are moments in life when everything around us feels uncertain. Plans shift. People disappoint. Circumstances change without warning. But in the middle of all that movement, Scripture gives us a truth so steady, so unshakeable, that it becomes an anchor for the soul: God cannot lie. His promises are not guesses. His Word is not fragile. His character is not shifting. When God speaks, He speaks truth – always, fully, eternally.
This truth is not simply a theological statement; it is a lifeline. Titus 1:2 tells us that God “cannot lie,” and Hebrews 6:18 reinforces that it is “impossible for God to lie.” That means every promise He has ever made stands firm. Every word He has spoken is trustworthy. Every assurance He has given is guaranteed.
From the beginning of Scripture to the end, God reveals Himself as perfectly truthful. Numbers 23:19 reminds us that God does not lie or change His mind. Psalm 119:160 declares that His Word is true from the beginning. Jesus Himself prayed in John 17:17, “Your Word is truth.” And 1 Samuel 15:29 affirms that God “will not lie or relent.” Truth is not something God chooses; truth is something God is.
Because God cannot lie, His promises are not fragile hopes—they are unbreakable realities. Joshua 21:45 says that not one of God’s promises failed. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 1:20 that all God’s promises are “Yes” in Christ. Abraham’s faith in Romans 4:20–21 rested on this very truth: God is fully able to do what He promised. Isaiah 55:10–11 assures us that God’s Word accomplishes what He sends it to do. Jesus adds in Matthew 24:35 that Heaven and Earth may pass away, but His words will never pass away.
This means that when God promises forgiveness, it is certain. When He promises His presence, it is guaranteed. When He promises strength, peace, wisdom, or comfort, those promises are not dependent on our feelings or circumstances. They are anchored in His unchanging character.
For believers walking through uncertainty, this truth becomes deeply personal. When the future feels unclear, God’s promises remain clear. When our emotions fluctuate, God’s truth remains steady. When life feels unstable, God’s Word remains unshakable.
Think of the promises that have carried you through the years. Perhaps it was God’s promise to never leave you (Hebrews 13:5). Or His promise to give peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:6–7). Or His promise to strengthen you (Isaiah 41:10). Or His promise to guide your steps (Proverbs 3:5–6). These promises have held you because the God who made them cannot lie.
In uncertain times, God’s truthfulness matters more than ever. When the world feels unpredictable, we need a foundation that does not move. When our hearts feel anxious, we need a word that does not change. When life feels fragile, we need a God who is faithful.
So how does knowing God cannot lie change how we read Scripture? It means we read it with confidence, not hesitation. We read it with expectation, not doubt. We read it knowing that every promise is backed by the full weight of God’s character. We read it knowing that God’s Word is not just true but trustworthy.
As you reflect on this truth, consider this question: What promise do you want to claim and remember when you wake up tomorrow? Maybe it’s God’s promise of peace. Maybe it’s His promise of strength. Maybe it’s His promise of presence. Whatever it is, hold it tightly. God cannot lie. His Word will not fail. His promises will not crumble.
And when you pray, pray with confidence. Pray knowing that God hears. Pray knowing that God answers. Pray knowing that God is faithful to every Word He has spoken.
