A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – This was a short and to-the-point comment that is typical of those who view Christians from outside our worldview. My short response follows …
The word “hateful” has many nuances. For example, you could mean that Christians have a narrow view of who goes to Heaven … or on the subject of abortion … or a disproportionate association with conservatives or Republicans vs. liberals and Democrats. To each I would offer that the foundation of the Christian faith is the Bible, which Biblical Christians (see link below) believe God wrote and protected down through the ages. And so we follow God’s commands rather than our own social norms … which you may term “hateful” in your comment.
As to murderous … if you are talking about the Crusades or the Old Testament, there is much that could be attributed to God’s calling on the Israelites (OT) or errors in judgment and interpretation of Scripture (Crusades and racial injustice). What many non-Christians miss is that Christians remain sinners after being born-again. It is that sin nature that Christ died and paid for on the cross. Further and finally, there are those who call themselves “Christians” who are not Christians (i.e., believers) at all.
