We assume that the news media, bent on finding the extreme cases of abuse on both sides of any issue, would have kept us up to date on the number of times transgender males have usurped female athletes in competition over the past several decades. However, a recent longitudinal study has brought to light some 1,941 events where males, competing in female sports, have won gold medals.

Webster defines transgenderism as: “Of, relating to, or being a person whose gender identity differs from the sex the person was identified as having at birth.”

The conservative advocacy group, Concerned Women for America compiled a fact sheet listing events where gold medals have been awarded to transgender males competing in a range of females sports.

The data from this analysis, going all the way back to the 1980’s, offers a glimpse of “men competing in female-only events.” Further, prize money, totaling almost $500k, was also a motive of the ruse.

A Biblical Christian Worldview on Transgenderism

Nowhere does Scripture specifically mention transgenderism. However, the Bible is clear on the subject of human sexuality …

Genesis 1:27 – So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Verses such as 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Romans 1:18-32, Deuteronomy 22:5, and others make it clear that homosexuality is a sin, just as so many other behaviors mankind engages in are sins.

Separate from the issue of homosexuality is the unwillingness of those who promote transgenderism in sports the lack of fair competition. God created men and women to be coequal in value but complementary in nature. To expect competitive sports to offer equal footing between those who were born male with those who are female is ludicrous. Further, the requirement that they share locker rooms is also unacceptable in a moral society.

Pew Research recently released a survey of 5,097 adults exploring the changing attitudes of Americans on the issue of transgenderism. Results indicate that the majority of U.S. adults “favor or strongly favor laws and policies that:

• Require trans athletes to compete on teams that match their sex assigned at birth (66%)
• Ban health care professionals from providing care related to gender transitions for minors (56%)”
