“Jesus is God.”

"The greatest discovery since the Dead Sea Scrolls."

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – An 1800 year old inscription, referred to as the “Meggido Mosaic” was translated recently after being found underneath the floor of the Meggido Prison in Israel (details here). The Greek words inscribed are, “The god-loving Akeptous has offered the table to God Jesus Christ as a memorial.” There is also a reference to Gaianus, the Roman officer who commissioned the mosaic.

Bobby Duke, the director at Museum of the Bible is quoted, “This is arguably one of the most important archaeological discoveries for understanding the early Christian church.”

Interestingly, the tile includes the names of Primilla, Cyriaca, Dorothea, Chreste and Akeptous, all women of note in the early church.

The mosiac is currently on display at the Museum of the Bible (details here).

This inscription is further evidence that Jesus Christ was considered God during the formation of the early church. Not suprising since the Bible is clear on the subject (details here).

John 10:30,33 – I and the Father are one… The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.”

John 8:58 – Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
