A brief Excerpt: Discover How Embracing the Holy Spirit Can Lead to a More Fulfilling Life.
When Jesus was about to leave, He assured us that He did not want us to be like orphans, without a Father or Shepherd. Instead, He promised to send the Spirit of God to dwell among us and guide us into all truth.
John 14:16–17 (NIV):“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever — the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”
Jesus, in His kindness, did not want to leave us alone; He needed to leave a part of Himself with us. Over the decades, the Holy Spirit has been with us and continues to dwell among us.
Many people remain unaware of the Holy Spirit’s role in our daily lives. Some view the Holy Spirit as merely a doctrinal concept, often considering Him less important than God the Father or God the Son.
However, this perception is incorrect. The Holy Spirit is very much God — He represents the spiritual aspect of God that interacts directly with humans. Just as God the Father and God the Son are equally divine, so is the Holy Spirit, with distinct roles and responsibilities.
The Holy Spirit is an essential part of Christian life. Upon accepting Christ, receiving the Holy Spirit is part of the divine package God gives us.
The Holy Spirit is a vital helper, offering kindness, mercy, and companionship. He acts as a best friend, a father, and a superior guide in our lives. God, in His great kindness and intentionality, provides the Holy Spirit to relate with us at our level. Whether one is a 14-year-old Christian or a 40-year-old Christian, the Holy Spirit engages with each individual according to their maturity and understanding.
We cannot function or fulfill our purpose on earth without the Holy Spirit. Before Jesus began His ministry, He had an encounter at the River Jordan where the Spirit of God descended upon Him like a dove, and God declared,
Matthew 3:16–17 (NIV):“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’”
This moment underscores the necessity of the Holy Spirit for fulfilling divine purpose. Just as Jesus needed the Holy Spirit, so do we.
The Holy Spirit leads us into all truth and helps us live out our purpose on earth. We cannot do life without God; we cannot do life without the Spirit of God.
The Holy Spirit fills us with power, strength, and wisdom needed to live the life God calls us to.
Also, it is pertinent to note that the Holy Spirit is not only involved in our spiritual lives but is also deeply interested in every detail of our lives, including our finances, academics, health, and more.
We are encouraged to acknowledge and call upon the Holy Spirit in every area of our lives. He is attentive and responsive to our needs, whether they pertain to our work, our personal challenges, or our everyday tasks. By inviting Him into every detail of our lives, we can experience His guidance, support, and transformation.
Proverbs 3:6 (NIV):“In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
In summary, God’s generosity in providing us with the Holy Spirit is a remarkable gift. Every Christian should embrace and utilize this gift, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide and empower them in their daily walk with Christ.
