Quick Quote – Source – Jeff Hilles

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – As each of us live within our worldview, we tend to define terms through our unique filters. (This is why I often begin with Webster in many of my posts.) The word “Christianity” is not immune from this disease.

Webster defines Christianity as, “the religion derived from Jesus Christ based on the Bible as sacred scripture, and professed by Eastern, Roman Catholic, and Protestant bodies”

The term “Christianity”, is unique in that its foundation is not based on any human invention, concept or thought. God, the Creator of the universe, defined the word. Since He is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, and supreme, what He established is unchanging. However, mankind’s interpretation is very open to differences, some small (should we sprinkle or immerse for example) and some huge such as the errant theology of Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses (details here) which are referred to as Christian (details here). Neither false teachings are Christian based on God’s definition, derived from the Bible, God’s inerrant word.
