A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – This is the sad truth for those who do not accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, and the amazing promise for those who do.
Regardless of whether one is a Mormon, a Jehovah’s Witness, a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Hindu, an atheist, an agnostic, a Christian Scientist, or any other false teaching, the reality is that there are only two religions in the world: Christian faith (Heaven) and a rejection of Christian faith (Hell). This is because earth is not our final resting place, and, beyond the grave, there exists a bifurcated eternity … Heaven or Hell. To reject that reality is to default to the latter regardless of how narrow-minded, bigoted, and hateful that may sound to those who reject our final Judge ….
The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. - John 5:22-23
And what does it mean to “honor the Son?”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6
And how do we “come to the Father … through [Christ]?”
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. - Romans 10:9
Heaven on Earth
Those who do not believe in the supernatural realm should be focused on what brings them the greatest pleasure while they remain on this side of the grave. Paul makes that point in 1 Corinthians …
If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” - 1 Corinthians 15:32b
Those whose convictions do acknowledge an afterlife desperately attempt to conform to their works-based religious tenets in the hopes of achieving a desired eternity. They, too, should enjoy life on earth while they can. Most believe one can neither know their god nor have any assurance that they will sufficiently achieve his demands in order to reach their form of nirvana.
Hell on Earth
Christians who accept the Bible know that this world is ruled by one who is hell-bound.
In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. - 2 Corinthians 4:4
We know and expect life challenges as we acknowledge BOTH the Holy Spirit and our own continuing sin nature are in a battle for our heart (Romans 7:22-24). Further, we know that evil seeks out the weak …
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. - 1 Peter 5:8
Hidden behind a veil of lies …
Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. - 2 Corinthians 11:14b
As Biblical Christians, we have a Counselor (the Holy Spirit) to guide us through the minefields of life on this earth, and it is evidence of the seal God has put on us as we await the other side of the grave.
In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. - Ephesians 1:13-14
The Answer to Life on Earth
The amazing thing is that the Lord will accept all who come to Him, no matter who we are and what we may have done so far in life. And His acceptance of us is not at all dependent on us, as evidenced by the thief on the cross next to Jesus at the point of death, who was told, by Jesus (regardless of his sins) …
And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” - Luke 23:43
One does not have to see Earth as their only Heaven. By accepting Christ as both Savior and Lord, eternity in Heaven awaits all believers. This is the essence of the gospel message, the Good News.
The Sinner’s Prayer
There is no formula for asking the Lord to save your soul for eternity. The prayer below is a guide for what you need to believe, both intellectually and with your heart, sincerely. Approach God with faith that He will give you the strength to repent or turn from your sins and receive eternal forgiveness (Acts 3:19).
“God, I’m a sinner and deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provides for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus, and Jesus alone, as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!”
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— - 1 Corinthians 2:9
