There are a lot of actions and thoughts going on in the world today that are contrary to Biblical beliefs. To list a few…
- We can’t seem to define what a man or woman is.
- We no longer recognize only two genders but rather, by one source, that there are at least 72 genders (details here).
- Biological men are participating in women’s sports and taking first, second, and third place where they would normally place rock bottom when competing against other men. Because of this, they are taking prize money, sponsorships, notoriety, and college scholarships away from deserving women.
- Schoolchildren are being subjected to books condoning homosexuality and shows by drag queens. In some schools, parents aren’t even allowed to know what their children are taught or subjected to.
- If you take offense to these actions and ways of thought, have you wondered how people think these things are right and acceptable? I was at a loss to answer that question until I read the answer in the Bible. It’s right there in plain sight. There are two parts to it.
First Part – Wisdom comes from God.
Proverbs 2:6: “All wisdom comes from the LORD, and so do common sense and understanding”
Not having God in your life equates to not having wisdom in your life.
Second Part – Satan has blinded them.
Paul is talking about his preaching coming from God when he says in 2 Corinthians 4:4
“…the god of this world (Satan) has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they will not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ…”
As believers, not only do we have the wisdom of God, not only are we not blinded by the god of this world (Satan), but we have the light of the world (Jesus Christ) to show us things clearly.
John 8:12 ‘Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness but will have the Light of life.”’
Point being
Don’t wonder any longer as to why these things are happening and acceptable. They can’t help it. They are blind to their thinking and don’t have the wisdom of God to set them straight.
Have you ever seen a blind person walk into or trip over something? The reason is that they just can’t see. As believers, we should be thinking about how to help the spiritually blind. They need the Holy Spirit in their lives, not our anger toward what they are doing.
So what can we do?
If God has not moved you to knock on doors for your candidate, demonstrate at the courthouse against their rulings, or run for political office, then pray. Pray without ceasing, every morning and every night. Pray that people would turn their lives over to God and accept His wisdom.
That’s what we can do.
And if current events get you down, just remember. We are in this world but thankfully not of this world. We are just Pilgrims passing through as we journey to our eternal home in Heaven.
