Consider that God can let us go off in our own direction, moving farther and farther from His will for our lives. It can become a domino effect where the more we make bad decisions, the increasingly more bad decisions we make.
It is truly a blessing when the Lord intervienes in our lives in a direct way to protect us from our own errors. When we finally get it, that He loves us and wants the best for us, God can release us so we can speak and act as we should. “His name is John.” – Luke 1:63
