With a Subtitle: By Mention Of Nephilim
A brief Excerpt: Every men's Bible study has that one guy who mentions the Nephilim and derails the whole evening. Fascinating rabbit trails have their place, but God's people need meat, not the candy of obscure theology.
Words of Wisdom from the Babylon Bee – Men’s Bible Study Once Again Derailed – By Mention Of Nephilim.
The Nephilim are allegedly fallen giants, or “sons of God,” who had sexual relations with the “daughters of men” (Genesis 6:1-4). But … that is not really the point.
There is so much richness in the Word of God that we need to prioritize in our studies when we meet together. It can be fun and somewhat titillating to discuss obscure points of theology. They are safe topics (vs complementarianism or abortion, for example) but, similar to candy, they don’t provide much nourishment.
There is nothing wrong with getting off track and chasing rabbit trails once in a while. However, to grow up in our knowledge of God we need meat, not milk.
Hebrews 5:12-13 - For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child.
