This intentionally inflammatory false quote comes on the heels of Trump’s recent Executive Order on the potential consequences of being convicted of burning the American Flag. Though likely unconstitutional, his stated intention is to bring back pride and patriotism to US Citizenry. There is a fine line between patriotism and nationalism.
In 1969 Charles de Gaulle perhaps said it best…
“Patriotism is when love of your own people comes first; nationalism is when hate for people other than your own comes first.”
