A brief Excerpt: Three truths about God – His truthfulness, sovereignty, and presence—provide believers with stability, strength, and peace as God is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent.
Life can shift quickly. When it does, believers need something solid – truth that does not sway with the times. Scripture offers a foundation through three unshakeable realities about who God is. These truths steady the heart, strengthen faith, and offer peace in every season.
God Cannot Lie
Detail can be found… here
One of the most stabilizing truths in Scripture is that God cannot lie (Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18). His character is perfectly truthful, and His words are entirely reliable. God does not change His mind or speak falsely (Numbers 23:19). His Word is described as truth (John 17:17) and as enduring and dependable (Psalm 119:160).
Because God cannot lie, His promises are not fragile hopes. They are certainties. Joshua 21:45 records that every promise God made to Israel was fulfilled. Paul writes that all of God’s promises find their “Yes” in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20). Abraham’s confidence rested on the conviction that God was fully able to do what He promised (Romans 4:20–21) and we are reminded that God’s Word accomplishes what He sends it to do (Isaiah 55:10–11).
This means when God promises forgiveness, peace, strength, or guidance, those promises stand firm. God’s truthfulness becomes a refuge. His Word remains steady when everything else feels uncertain.
God Is Sovereign
Detail can be found… here
The second truth that anchors the believer is God’s sovereignty. Scripture presents God as the One whose throne is established in the heavens and whose rule extends over all things (Psalm 103:19). His authority is not partial or passive; it is complete.
He directs the rise and fall of nations (Daniel 2:21). He declares the end from the beginning and accomplishes all His purposes (Isaiah 46:9–10). His plans prevail over human intentions (Proverbs 19:21). Psalm 115:3 reminds us that God does what pleases Him with wisdom and goodness.
God’s sovereignty is not distant. It is deeply personal. He knows what we need before we ask (Matthew 6:8). He understands every detail of our lives (Psalm 139:1–6). His purposes cannot be thwarted (Job 42:2), and His works are known from eternity (Acts 15:18). Because He reigns, we can rest. We don’t need to fear because God is with us (Isaiah 41:10). His peace guards (protects) our hearts (Philippians 4:6–7). Psalm 46:10 invites us to be still and recognize His rule. Nahum 1:7 describes Him as a stronghold in times of trouble.
God’s sovereignty means we are never at the mercy of chance, chaos, or circumstance. His wisdom is greater than our understanding and His purposes are always good even when we cannot see how.
God Is With You
Detail can be found… here
The third truth brings the first two directly into the heart of daily life: God is with you. Scripture consistently affirms His nearness. He is present in the darkest of valleys (Psalm 23) and Jesus promises to be with His followers always (Matthew 28:20).
This presence is real and constant. Psalm 139:7–10 speaks of God’s inescapable nearness. Isaiah 43:1–2 assures His presence in deep waters and difficult fires. Jesus teaches that the Spirit abides with and within believers (John 14:16–18). Hebrews 13:5 contains God’s promise never to leave or forsake His people.
God walks with us through every season. Deuteronomy 31:6, 8 speaks of Him going before us. He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Isaiah 40:11 portrays His gentle care and He comforts us in all of our afflictions 2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
His presence brings courage and peace. Joshua 1:9 calls us to strength because God is with us. John 14:27 speaks of the peace Jesus gives. Philippians 4:5–7 connects God’s nearness with a guarded heart. Psalm 16:8 expresses confidence because God is at our right hand.
God’s presence means we are never alone, abandoned, nor forgotten, and never without hope.
A Steady Foundation
These three truths: God’s truthfulness, God’s sovereignty, and God’s presence – form a foundation that carries every believer through every season of life. They remind us that God is faithful, God is in control, and God is near.
These are unshakeable because He is unshakeable.
