A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – For some, singing the song from Horatio Spafford, 1873, on the tranquility we are supposed to feel in the middle of the trauma that can appear in our lives, is challenging. We are told in Scripture that God is always with us, even as we go through the worst times of our lives (Psalm 23:4). However, even the most mature Christians among us don’t always feel that peace which is supposed to transcend all understanding (Phil. 4:7). Lyrics such as the ones below can have a mixed message. For some, it is a reminder of who we are in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17), for others, it is a reminder of how far we have to go in the process of sanctification (1 Thes. 5:23).
