Theology on the Lighter Side – The prophets.
In the most general sense, a “prophet” is one who presents God’s truth in a public way. In some situations, particularly in the Old Testament, true prophets were able to predict the future based on a mix of dreams and/or God speaking to them directly.
He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. – Isaiah 25:8
