Providing insight on the intersection of contemporary issues and theology, based on a Biblical Christian Worldview.

“Your God is as probable as any other.”

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – As we witness to the lost there are times when we need to understand that the conversation does not always focus on logic or apologetics. It can be an emotional unwillingness to acknowledge the consequences of a decision, even an eternal one.

The following are comments made by an unbeliever over a series of conversations.

“I would certainly acknowledge a holy God, though ‘submit’ is a step too far – my mind will always be free. But then a truly holy God wouldn’t object to that.”

“As to Hell. They can inflict pain on me, but I will only suffer if I choose to. Pain is mostly beyond our control, but suffering is not. Suffering, as a Stoic, is a choice we make ourselves, and we can suffer without pain, or be in pain without suffering.”

“[Eternal] Suffering [in Hell] is a mental state, in the mind, and thus subject to our control.”

“But in the face of these existential dilemmas, the only guide I have is my own conscience.  In a confrontation between the powerful and the powerless, I stand always for the powerless, even if the powerful is God.”

“Sorry to say it, but your God, as presented, simply does not meet my criteria of a good person! Once I have shuffled off this mortal coil, if I still exist at all, and then find myself in the presence of a God who does prove to be a moral and just being, then He may count on my allegiance. No bowing and scraping, mind you! I’m an Englishman after all!”

One of the advantages engaging in conversations on a platform like Medium.com is that there is a free flow of unvarnished opinions because everyone is anonymous. It offers a unique and sobering window into the mind of those who do not have faith or hope in Christ.,a perspective that Christians rarely hear in face-to-face dialogue with the lost.
