We can argue that there exists no original autographs of the Bible today, that the scribes likely made errors in their copying, that perhaps they were biased in their rewriting, that the canon was determined by man long after the original works were written, and on and on and on.
The Biblical Christian can argue that the remnants we have, dating back to less than 100 years after some of the original autographs, show a miraculous consistency over multiple human authors. Core Biblical theology can be viewed in multiple cross-referenced verses as a confirmation of their importance. The early church fathers followed the precepts from eye witness accounts, and there are extra-biblical sources that support Biblical doctrine and practice … and on and on.
What seems to often be missing from this back and forth attempt to support and undermine the most important book ever written is that God was involved.
There are so many who believe in a supernatural supreme being. Often, they are willing to accept that God is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent. And yet, when confronted with beliefs in the Bible that run counter to their internal sense of morality, they still refer to the Scriptures as corrupt.
A supreme God, Creator of everything, desiring a relationship with each of us, would have the motivation and capacity to write a book that gets handed down relatively intact through the ages so that today we can read His love letter and believe it is the very words of the Lord, Himself. Why would God allow His Word to become a corrupted, worthless book if His intent was to provide the key to eternity with Himself?
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness – 2 Timothy 3:16
Why would God allow us to be reading something that does not support this verse? Bottom line, He would not.
