Her story asks a question worth sitting with: what are you building your life around, and what would it cost to lay it down for Him?
A Witchtok Star Meets Christ
Alex Reads Tarot no longer reads tarot.
Alexandra Ashcroft had been one of the leading voices on “Witchtok” — the active witchcraft community on TikTok that has billions of views.
Alex had nearly a million followers for her account and north of 50 million likes for her content focused on astrology, energy practices, and most especially, tarot.
Her rise to fame began in 2020–2021 as millions of people turned to witchcraft themed “spiritual” content to help them navigate living through a global pandemic.
Why Witchcraft?
Witchcraft is part of the occult world and aims to leverage unseen forces in the world for personal gain.
For many practitioners, it ultimately gets back to seeking control or power for life. And there’s nothing like a global pandemic and toilet paper shortages for feeling out of control.
In an interview with the BBC, another Witchtok content creator named Ayla Skinner (Witch in the Wilderness) hit on the theme of personal control and self-autonomy.
“Witchcraft, paganism, it all gives you a bit of control back, you can live your life how you want.” [Skinner, bbc.com]
For many, it became a spiritual practice that shaped daily living.
Here’s Skinner again:
“I live my life magically, I do magic every day. It gives people a real sense of individuality and the power to do things themselves.” [Skinner, bbc.com]
A minority in the Witchtok community are focused on “dark” magic or the “left-hand path” which includes cursing and hexing others for revenge and retaliation.¹ But the majority are interested in “light” or “right-hand path” practices such as:
- Coping with stress and anxiety through crystals and rituals
- Self protection through building energetic barriers and cleansing “negative spaces”
- Attracting money or success through manifestation
- Using divination to set the focus for the day with a daily drawn tarot card
It’s the kind of content that could help someone structure their day based on mindfulness, managing individual energy levels, and personal rituals.
Editor’s note – Skinner’s words are honest, and that’s what makes them worth pausing on. Every occult practice, light or dark, promises the same thing: control you can hold in your own hands. Scripture names that impulse plainly as the oldest temptation there is – the desire to be our own god.
Alex’s Journey
Alexandra had content that leaned towards “light” ideals with a focus on healing, mindfulness, and divine guidance.
Through her handle @yourfiresignbestie, she was known for her direct and engaging approach to divination and astrology.
That was up until last month. She announced her conversion to Christianity and deleted all of her occult videos on June 25, 2026.
She initially planned to rename and relaunch her account with a new focus on her faith in Christ, but ended up deleting it after facing pushback from her former followers and deciding it was best to start over completely.
Her announcement video had been here, but that’s gone as well.
If you’re interested, you can find it online where other creators with differing worldviews are either criticizing her move or praising it.
There has been a massive amount of reaction and it’s not limited to frustration or joy. There are people simply struggling with the emotional impact from Alex leaving the world of tarot and witchcraft for Christianity.
Here’s just one example.
Editor’s note – Notice what the backlash reveals. Alexandra didn’t just lose income; she lost an audience that had built its identity around her guidance. Leaving that behind for an audience of One costs something real, and her critics and mourners alike are watching to see whether her faith holds.
Saved by Jesus
In her farewell post Alex said “Jesus Christ has saved my life, and I can no longer ignore that reality.”
She described a period of nearly a year as her faith in Christ has become “the most important thing” in her life.
She went on to describe that this had not been a sudden change but a process.
“Through that journey, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting, questioning, praying and trying to understand my faith more and where God was starting to lead me. This hasn’t been an overnight change. This has been a gradual journey that has slowly changed the way that I see my life and my faith.” [Alexandra in her farewell message on tiktok]
Some milestones feel more significant than others on the journey for all of us. Walking away from tarot meant walking away from her source of income.
She had reportedly been making $1 million per year from her tarot readings and connected online ecosystem.²
That’s gone now.
This is the picture Jesus paints of those who follow Him. Making a decision for Christ always comes with a cost.
Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. [Matthew 10:37-39]
Editor’s note – A million dollars a year is no small thing to walk away from, and Jesus never pretended it would be easy. He simply promised that whatever we lose for His sake, we find again in Him.
Wrapping Up
Some people argue that it’s possible to mix tarot card readings with the Christian faith.
Alexandra Ashcroft is not one of those people.
Jesus reveals a path to newness of life and spiritual power that is opposite from the path of the occult.
An occult perspective says to build your life around yourself at the center and secure power and control through inwardly-focused spiritual practices. The more you practice, the more power and self mastery you can gain.
Jesus, on the other hand, says to lose your life and surrender to Him.
You can’t earn it, as much as many of us want to. You can only receive it by grace and then follow Him, just as Alexandra has done and is doing.
To paraphrase Søren Kierkegaard “the Christian faith only takes nothing, but nothing is something very difficult to have.”
If you feel Him calling you today, know that He loves you. He doesn’t love witchcraft or satanism, but that doesn’t mean He didn’t love Alexandra or this satanist who came to Him.
Jesus is God who came to earth to live and die for people like you and me. Thank you, Jesus.

A Word from the Editor
Every spiritual practice, however dressed up in mindfulness and self-help language, finally comes down to who sits on the throne of your life. Alexandra Ashcroft found she could not keep tarot and Christ both there. Jesus said, in essence, that no one can serve two masters, and grace only comes to those who stop trying to. If you’ve been building your peace on crystals, cards, or your own capacity for control, know that Christ offers something you cannot manufacture for yourself.
