Why do people in heaven always get along?

Because there are no “grave” misunderstandings!

Theology on the Lighter Side – Why do people in heaven always get along? – Because there are no “grave” misunderstandings!

Scripture makes the point that, as believers, when we die we go to Heaven ….

2 Corinthians 5:8 – Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

And yet, at the end of the ages, we have faith and hope that we will be resurrected as Christ was resurrected from the grave.

John 5:28-29 – Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.

So, how can we be in Heaven “with the Lord” and yet still awaiting a resurrection from the grave?

Perhaps it marks the difference between the soul, mankind’s spirit, and our eventual glorified bodies. Perhaps, when the born-again die on this earth, our soul is carried to Heaven while our spirit awaits the resurrection from the grave. At the end of the ages when our soul and spirit unite, we will live forever in a New Heaven resting on a New Earth (details here). This is one of the many open questions we can ask, while worshiping God for eternity.
