Theology on the Lighter Side – Why do angels never get lost? – Because they always follow the light!
But has that always been true? Most believe Revelation 12:4 and 12:9 suggest that one third of the angels in Heaven lost fellowship with God and fell to earth, becoming demons.
Luke 10:18 - And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."
Satan and his angels, becoming demons, “lost” the “light” of the Trinity.
John 8:12 - Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The evil one, however, tries to convince mankind to follow his “light” rather than the true and perfect “light” of God.
2 Corinthians 11:14 - And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
The concept of light is a metaphor for good, as darkness is for evil.
James 1:17 - Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
1 John 1:5 - This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
As born-again believers, we are to represent the light of God to all those willing to listen.
1 Peter 2:9 - But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
John 12:46 - I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
To “walk in the light” of Jesus is to recognize our place as “His own possession” and “proclaim” to those who remain in darkness.
1 Peter 2:9 - But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Our light should shine and not be kept hidden under a basket.
2 Corinthians 4:6 - For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 5:15 - Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
Shine your light to those in darkness and help them understand and resist the false light of the evil one, knowing that our responsibility is to plant and water, but only God causes the growth (1 Corinthians 3:7).
