“Why Attack Roman Catholicism”

"We have bigger fish to fry in a world where secularists would gladly walk you and I off to the re-education camps."

Quote Source – From a Catholic on Medium

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – As would be expected from a post titled, “Roman Catholicism is Hell-Bound,” I have received a number of responses, most critical of my position. Below is one that, in a respectful way, offers a summary of the majority.

The Body of His Comment

“I find your thinking fascinating …. Your blog is alone in an ocean of blogs that openly hate Christianity or, perhaps worse, want to define the Christian message into a kind of myth useful for therapy, which in doing so deny the truths that you and I affirm. But you think that your time is best spent attacking Catholics? I don’t feel the same way. I don’t attack Protestants. I think that Protestants are fine being Protestant.”

This writer concluded his comment with the sentence that is the sub-title of this post. And, it is very true that Catholicism and Biblical Christianity have much in common.

Below was my response.

“I do get your point on Protestants, such as myself, poking at a false teaching that runs, in many people’s views, so close to a Biblical Christian worldview. Why not talk about Islam or JW’s or Mormons, etc.

“So … I checked it out …. As of today, since late 2021, I have published about 1500 posts on our website and Medium. If I search the word “Catholic” on those 1500, there are 58 that have that word or its derivatives in them (<4%).

“The fish we need to ‘fry’ should focus on what is Essential … which is salvation, since that is eternal. It is why the bottom of every post we publish has a link to “Salvation – Eternal Life in less than 150 Words.”

“At BCW [Biblical Christian Worldview] we focus on an American audience in all our publications, and JW’s, Mormons, Muslims, etc. are a tiny minority of denominations in this country. Catholicism is one of the largest. So, the fact that we have only (often just casually) addressed the RC [Roman Catholic] false teachings <4% of the time is actually not focusing enough time on them, if Heaven and Hell are in the balance. The fact that we agree on the “social gospel” is a great thing while on Earth. However, eternity is a longer time frame than 100 years in these tents (2 Cor. 5:1).”

2 Corinthians 5:1 – For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
