A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – Each Christian has a choice in times of stress… to draw closer to God or to reject His love, believing the Lord has distanced Himself from our troubles.
Psalm 10:1 – Why, O LORD, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
As the psalmist works through his grief over the remaining verses in this chapter, he comes to the conclusion that God has not left him, he has left God.
Psalm 10:17-18 – O LORD, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.
The Lord has told each Christian that He will never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), that He will be with us at the lowest points of our lives (Psalm 23:4), not to remove the thorn which is causing us grief (2 Cor. 12:7-10) but to teach us, and comfort us as we move through life (2 Cor. 1:4). We may disagree with God’s approach in allowing the trauma in our lives, but His ways are above our ways (Isaiah 55:9) and we ultimately have a choice to trust His love (1 John 4:8) or not (Matthew 7:13).
The struggles of a Biblical Christian are an invitation to draw closer to God, not a rejection of His love.
