What’s a preacher’s favorite type of math?

Multiplication—of the congregation!

The church as a greenhouse for the Great Commission means every lesson learned inside is meant to travel far beyond those walls. Multiplication of ministry is how one faithful teacher becomes many.

Theology on the Lighter Side – What’s a preacher’s favorite type of math? – Multiplication—of the congregation!

There is a phrase in the lexicon of Christian theology called “Multiplication of Ministry.” The basic principle is that the church should be a “Greenhouse for the Great Commission.” The focus of mid-week Bible studies, short-term missions, and general day-to-day evangelism should have a broader goal than the individuals listening to a Christian teacher. There should be a motivation to take what is learned in the ‘greenhouse’ and move the application beyond the protective setting and into the world at large. One person / pastor teaching a lesson should put it in the context of taking what is learned and spreading that truth to a lost and dying world. Multiplying ministry can be the most effective way to spread the gospel as long as the students are willing to take the message beyond their own ears.

2 Timothy 2:2 – And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Matthew 28:19 – Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
