Providing straightforward analysis on the intersection of contemporary issues and theology, based on a Biblical Christian Worldview.

“Use your (retirement) time well and not just let your time get used up.”

2 Timothy 4:7 - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – Are you retired… what are you doing every day… to serve God?

When you were younger your focus was on your family and work, within and outside the home. As you face the freedom of retirement, what are you replacing that investment with?

Romans 12:1-2 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Does our “living sacrifice” end at a certain age, or is our freedom in retirement a time of increased service to the Lord, beyond our home and work?

Where are our treasures to be found? Are we to hoard our skills, our knowledge and financial resources that have been collected over a lifetime or to be invested on earth for reimbursement in Heaven?

As we get older, we can easily fall into the trap of not reallocating our time in a new direction in the service of God’s calling. The Lord has given each Christian a spiritual gift and we should rejoice that we can invest more time in its application when the burden of earning a living and raising a family has been lifted from our shoulders.
