Recently, the high court dismissed an appeal from attorneys representing Glawdys Leger, who was terminated by Bishop Justus Church of England School for her February, 2022 comments regarding a PowerPoint presentation on LGBTQ+ ideology.
Ms. Leger was convicted of inappropriate comments made during the presentation that suggested God’s commands should supersede human opinions on homosexuality. The curriculum she was required to use in her lectures included, “extreme content on gender identity with themes that begin to suggest to children that humans can be born in the wrong body.” Further, they included topics such as pansexual, asexual, intersex and transgender. Leger desired to balance the material by expressing her own views on the matter, stating that she, “cared deeply about the children in her care and wanted to teach them about the tolerance and hope that is found in the Christian faith.”
The court responded by stating that, “her ‘actions were at risk of upsetting pupils in the lesson’ and her ‘choice not to present a balanced view undermined the school community’s aspiration to provide a supportive environment for children who may be exploring sexual identity.'”
Issues which stem from homosexuality, in conflict with a Biblical Christian worldview, are both broad and infectious in today’s culture. Same-sex marriages, gay pastors, transgender sports, tampons in boy’s bathrooms, and child sex-change surgeries are just a few of the more common controversies related to the overarching discrepancy between what conservative theologians see in Scripture vs. what most of mankind desires to be seen as “normal” in the world.
