“There is a purpose for the law for both the saved and unsaved.”

God's commands do not apply only to those who don't know Him.

Some claim God's law applies only to unbelievers, but Scripture tells a richer story. For the saved, it reveals perfection we cannot reach, the depth of what Christ's sacrifice covered, and a glimpse of Heaven's glory.

Quick Quote – Source – Jeff Hilles

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – I received a comment recently that included the statement that “God’s law is only for unbelievers”. However, the law, as offered by the Bible, has a purpose for all mankind.

For the unbeliever, God’s law, as written in the Bible is both a warning and a condemnation of eternal separation from the Lord, on earth and in Heaven (Matt. 6:10, John 3:18). For the saved, God’s law remains important as a reminder of what is right and perfect (something we cannot obtain to Rom. 7:24), a basis to speak to the lost on what righteousness looks like (Matt. 5:20), a view of what Christ died as a sacrifice for (Hebrews. 9:28), how far we fall short (1 Cor. 15:3), and, a view of what perfection will look like in Heaven (ex. 1 Cor. 13:4-8).
