With a Subtitle: Scripture is more than the sum of verses twisted to suit one's worldview.
A brief Excerpt: Rip a thread from a tapestry and you lose the pattern. Scripture is a complex, interwoven whole, and pride plus finite minds tempt us to twist isolated verses into a worldview of our own making.
Quote Source – Patrick Smith
A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – The underlying cause of “cherry picking” Scripture, comes from a combination of the sin nature of man which includes the difficulty for our pride to accept the lordship of a supernatural Creator, and the challenge of our finite minds to grasp the infinite mind of God. The Bible is a complex interwoven tapestry. Mankind tends to view it looking at tiny scraps (verses pulled out of context), rather than marvel at the beauty and wonder of the whole work.
