The Victor’s Prize

Run in such a way as to win.

Run in such a way as to win.
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the Prize? So run in such a way as to win. Everyone who competes in the games trains with strict and self-disciplined training, so they can win a crown that is able to fade, but we do it for a crown that is able to last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like someone beating the air. Rather, I discipline my body and make it my slave so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize”. 1 Corinthians 9:24–27 (NIV)

Our God is a Creator.

He chisels the eternal statue of you. It’s made from the most valuable material in His imagination. It is perfect for how He sees you. You are more precious to Him than is possible to calculate.

We get to help our Father chisel.

He is writing the most beautiful Broadway Musical. It’s written in His most beautiful calligraphy and in languages never heard in space or time. The notes in the score look like your footsteps. Your life is the flow of inspiration that flows from the Holy Spirit as they sing your life into the future of the New Creation.

We get to compose the songs that form our lives’ plot.

He is running next to you in the ultra-marathon you’ve continued to discipline yourself for all those early runs. You live for the days when you feel His Joy and the shared intensity of your body’s finely-tuned strength.

We get to keep running with eternal lungs and physiology, into the New Creation.

He is creating colors that our imaginations cannot yet understand. He is painting your life into the mosaic of space and time, and He is guiding your hands and your perception. Beauty so powerful, it won’t be revealed until you receive your Prize in the New Creation.

We get to have paint fights with Our Father.

He is standing on the beach, admiring the driftwood sand castle you’ve built with Him that extends beyond sight. The surf doesn’t destroy the castle; it contributes to the ramparts and towers. Then, when you are not looking, He dumps a bucket of refreshing water of ideas over you.

We get to understand how much of a Father He really is.

He has one endless wall in the New Jerusalem that continually scrolls by with every Grandchild’s Refrigerator drawing, or scratched into an old board in an African desert. His hand is guiding them all.

Some of us get to see Him or hear Him in our secret places.

He is sealing His Masterpieces for the New Creation. How are we consciously contributing to the Masterpiece? Do we see our lives as His Masterpiece?

We are His Masterpiece. We get to be His Children and His Son’s Bride. Keep your eyes on the Prize!
