The Normal Life

Out of two kingdoms, which is the real one?

Out of two kingdoms, which is the real one?

Before I came to Jesus, I had a concept about how I wanted my life to play out. My life up to that particular point in time had brought me enough trials and tribulations that I decided all I wanted was a “Normal Life”. Perhaps a better understanding of what I was hoping for is the Ideal Life. The kind of life with a house, a happy marriage, three children, and peace until I died.

Well, I don’t think I ever found that Ideal Life. But I did find a Normal Life.

My normal life started when I found Jesus. The “peace until I die” part came immediately as the Holy Spirit filled me. But, it took a long time to understand that my Ideal Life was not the Normal Life God had for me.

Like everyone else, He had a life of joy and suffering for my wife and me. However, this Normal Life includes The Holy Spirit and Jesus walking beside you until you die. There was lots of pain along the way. Desperate moments where I didn’t know what to do, or how to get my life back to the positive side of the equation?

These moments — sometimes brutally–produced trust in the only One who could help me: Jesus. I learned to pray the kind of prayers with no other option than Him. I learned to hear His voice. I learned the value of time spent in His Presence. I learned to trust His timing in all things.

This was the true normal. The one that will last longer than this planet.

I believe that society’s version of a NEW Normal is a tactic of Satan. Because of my new Normal Life, it has been easy to see the wool Satan has tried to pull over the World’s eyes. He’s always attempting to define how we perceive the world, trying to change it into his creation. If he can do that, his job will become much more manageable. Deception is easy when we accept things, “Just the Way they are”.

What is your perception of the life ahead of you? Are you struggling to create the perfect life, only to find that it’s like the proverbial carrot before the mule? Are you exhausted by life’s seemingly endless fighting against you? Does it feel like something is conspiring against you and your dreams?

There is something better. It only costs everything you are. But He gives you everything to replace those broken dreams. And you become a New Creation. A member of God’s family.

The Father God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit invite you to join them on a Family Adventure. Will there be challenges? Count on it. Will there be disappointments and tragedies? Yep. But there will be peace if you allow it, even amid challenges, disappointments, and tragedies. Because The One who created everything is walking beside you, let Him give you the eyes to see the adventure and the ears to hear His directions.
