‘I’m Leaving Religion, But Not Jesus,’

' Says Man Who Is Also Leaving Jesus‘

' Says Man Who Is Also Leaving Jesus‘

Words of Wisdom from the Babylon Bee – The following is a quote from a Babylon Bee article which adds clarity to the statement above.

“I’m just leaving religion, not Jesus,” said Trent Jennings. “Jesus will still be an integral part of my life, I’m just going to get rid of all of the traditional ways people have maintained their close connection with Jesus throughout the entire history of Christianity. It’ll have no effect on my faith. Jesus and I will still be super tight. I just won’t do all that praying, reading the Bible, going to church stuff.”

This is the outcome of Deconstruction for most who walk down this road. There is nothing wrong with questioning one’s religious views as long as there is a resulting reconstruction that draws one closer to a Biblical Christian view of God. The problem with rejecting a sound church, prayer, and the study of God’s instruction manual for our life, is that the opposite happens, as exemplified in the quote above. Those who rely more and more on their own spirit and less on the Holy Spirit not only “leave religion” but sadly, end up leaving Jesus as well.
