A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – The quote above did not come from a Christian. It was written by a religiously knowledgeable agnostic who is both prolific and antagonistic toward Biblical Christianity. What was his point?… It was that he plants seeds of confusion and divisiveness, attempting to undermine the foundations of our faith through human logic. He knows the truth and intentionally draws weak believers and seekers away from it.
He used Scripture to make the point that his anti-Christianity uses the same strategy as when Christians plant seeds Pointing toward the Good News.
The title of this post was sparked by the following comment I made… acknowledging his strategy as a false teacher.
“I know you think you are being impactful, and, perhaps you are correct, from a human perspective. But that really changes nothing. If God is going to save someone, He will save them. As Biblical Christians, we are to be salt and light in a darkening world, and we can’t do that by hiding under a rock and putting our hands to our ears, refusing to listen and challenge those, such as yourself, who don’t have faith. We can plant and water, only if we are willing to deal with those who confront our beliefs. More importantly, only God causes the growth. So, continue [name deleted]… I have long ago decided that open dialogue and honest admissions are the way the Lord has called me to respond to the obvious challenges of our Biblical Christian worldview.”
1 Corinthians 3:4-7 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely human? What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
Again, A False Teachers Response
“Just planting seeds…some germinate, some don’t.”
My Response
“Remember that if I am correct in my theology… there will be a high price to pay for the seeds you are spreading around so intentionally.”
2 Peter 2:20-21 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.
Conclusion
As Christians, we cannot overstate the challenges faced in witnessing to those lost, all around us. Since God sets up divine appointments, His word will not return void. He causes the growth, not us, and finally, although we recognize persecution of all types as being part of our reality, the Great Commission remains a priority. We also need to be wise as serpents, while being harmless as doves as we face the false teachers who attempt to derail our efforts.
