Providing insight on the intersection of contemporary issues and theology, based on a Biblical Christian Worldview.

“Jesus had a twofold message… love the Lord and love your neighbor.”

The first is eternal and the second is temporal.

The first is eternal and the second is temporal.

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – There are many who strongly criticize the beliefs of Biblical Christians. They attempt to explain away our faith through the lens of their fears that our worldview may be correct, which puts them at odds with the God of the Bible.

Some point to the God of the Old Testament and call Him unjustified in His love for some (the Jews) and apparent willingness to sacrifice others (for example, carving out the promise land for the Israelites). Many skeptics attempt to compress all of Scripture down to a focus on the testimony of Jesus in His love for human “neighbors”.

The fact is that God is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. He is the Trinity, God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and He loves mankind, regardless of whether we, as currently earth-bound mortals, can defend all the actions of the Creator.

Jesus, in the New Testament, added meat to the bones of God the Father in the Old Testament. His intent was to fulfill the law, not to change it. As such, Christ promoted both a love of God and a love of our neighbors. The first love is vertical and eternal in its impact. The second is only temporal and temporary in its impact.

The eternal message from Scripture requires what many refuse to offer… accepting Christ as more than a Savior and more than a proponent of good words between men (love of our neighbors). We must also accept Jesus as Lord of our lives.

One cannot simply love their neighbor and also expect the rewards that come only from accepting Christ as Lord of one’s life (Heaven).
