Providing straightforward analysis on the intersection of contemporary issues and theology, based on a Biblical Christian Worldview.

If I Were God…

A simple solution to Christian conflicts.

What would you offer if the Lord asked for your advice before creating the world as we know it today? Below is a list of my thoughts …

  • I think abortion in certain situations is warranted.
  • I think God should not say that He desires all to be saved and then allow billions to live and die without even hearing the word “Jesus.”
  • I think having a sin nature inherited from Adam and Satan breathing down our back for our lifetime on this earth should not result in eternal punishment as payment.
  • I think homosexuality should not be a sin.
  • I think God should never have allowed Lucifer to become Satan and therefore Adam would not have eaten the forbidden fruit.
  • I think God should have allowed universalism, where everyone gets into Heaven.
  • I think the bloodbath of the Old Testament is difficult to reconcile with “thou shalt not kill,” so the carve-out of the Jewish territory should have been accomplished differently.
  • I think the teachings of the Bible should have been written in less than 20% of its current length and much more clearly as to God’s commandments that are to be held today.
  • And, there is so much more I could provide God as advice, if He had just asked me.

However, the fact is that I know nothing of what He knows, and I am steeped in sin from within and without with no perspective. Further, the reality is my opinion means absolutely nothing, as He is in control regardless of my personal opinions, moral outrage, and weak faith. We are His children, not His mentor.

Isaiah 40:13-14 Who has measured the Spirit of the LORD, or what man shows him his counsel? Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?
