A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – God’s revelation can be broken down into two distinct categories… general and specific revelation, both of which can be found in Scripture.

Webster defines general revelation concisely as “revelation available to all humans.” When one seen the beauty and complexity of the world around us, for many, it demands the belief in a Creator.

Psalm 19:1 – The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Romans 1:20 – For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Webster defines specific revelation as “religious revelation accessible only to a particular people or group of people.” For Christians this is the revealing of God through dreams, visions, miracles, and especially through His word, the Bible.

The title of this brief post comes from a writer on Medium who is questioning whether salvation could be offered to those who never hear the word “Jesus” through general revelation. However, Scripture makes it clear that salvation comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which is only available through special revelation.

John 14:6 – Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
