A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – In Proverbs, the Bible offers the view that the “fear of God is the beginning of all knowledge” (Proverbs 9:10). However, to ‘fear God’, one must believe He exists (Hebrews 11:6), so, my view is that this is a ‘fear’ that believers have in our desire to love and serve our Savior. Fear, in the context of eternity, is a poor evangelistic tool. Hopelessness, and a recognition that there is something more to life than the accumulation of toys prior to death, can be a starting point for looking beyond our lives toward something much bigger and eternal. It is the desire for joy, rather than a fear of loss, that forms the basis for those who walk the narrow path seeded with the good soil.
For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. – Matthew 7:14
As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience. – Luke 8:15
