Providing insight on the intersection of contemporary issues and theology, based on a Biblical Christian Worldview.

“Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness.”

God is both loving and righteous.

God is both loving and righteous.

Quote Source – Al Capone

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – Al Capone was a gangster who ruled most of Chicago in the early 1900’s. He was known to many as a modern day “Robin Hood,” starting one of the first “Soup Kitchens” for the unemployed, serving over 120k meals to the hungry. Of course that is not what he was most remembered for.

The Bible is a love story between God and man. However, within its pages is the recognition that we will be held responsible for our sins unless we accept the grace of God’s provision for forgiveness. The Lord’s kindness and compassion is balanced with His firm judgement for those who reject Him. As Biblical Christians we must be righteous before the Lord. According to Webster, righteousness is defined as, “acting in accord with divine or moral law free from guilt or sin.” And, the only way to be without sin is to accept the gift of Jesus Christ (details here).

Some focus only on New Testament verses taken out of context suggesting universal forgiveness…

1 Timothy 2:3-4 – This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

However, we serve a righteous God…

1 John 3:10 – By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
