A brief Excerpt: How many seminaries pump out future pastors and missionaries that do not have a Biblical Christian worldview?

Words of Wisdom from the Babylon Bee – How many seminaries, expressing a desire to teach Christianity, are, in fact, training future pastors and missionaries to believe the Bible should not be trusted to present His commands accurately? How many have been diverted from the primary responsibility they have to their students, which is to understand God more deeply (a vertical relationship), to an emphasis on social (horizontal) issues?

Below is a quote from an incoming student to Yale Divinity in 2024… (more details here).

“Raleigh Adams, a student at Yale Divinity School, who experienced first-hand this orientation ceremony, recounts how the students were sat down in a circle and told to recite a spell written by a self-professed witch, Adrienne Maree Brown, someone who is described in contemporary literary covens as a ‘mixed-race Black queer American writer, community organizer, facilitator, witch and – may I say – goddess.’ This, the first activity of orientation, was a small group activity, and the discussion opened with a set of ‘Restorative Circle Rules,’ which included a warning to be open-minded and that all viewpoints were expected to be heard.”

Below is a comment regarding a former dean of Duke Divinity School, describing his recent book as a reversal from his lifetime stance on LGBTQ marriage.

“For much of his career, he was perhaps best known for his 1996 book, “The Moral Vision of the New Testament,” in which he argued that same-sex relationships were “one among many tragic signs that we are a broken people, alienated from God’s loving purpose.” His well-respected scholarly work was cited by Christian leaders who viewed same-sex relationships as sinful, and who opposed LGBTQ affirmation in churches. This past year, Hays publicly changed his mind — in what he described as an act of repentance for the way his work had been used to harm LGBTQ people and to divide Christians — in a new book, “The Widening of God’s Mercy: Sexuality Within the Biblical Story,” co-authored with his son, Christopher Hays, an Old Testament scholar.”

As Biblical Christians, we should not be surprised by any of this. Seminaries are no different than other institutions of “higher learning.” There are those that follow God’s calling and those that teach some truth, wrapped in a larger lie.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 – For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
