Commit to Jesus as your Lord and Savior

Look at the Jesus you say you serve, and tell Him the honest truth about your commitment.

With a Subtitle: Look at the Jesus you say you serve, and tell Him the honest truth about your commitment.

A brief Excerpt: Ignoring God’s call, whether out of fear or complacency, is a denial of Him. We are called to serve a purpose and should not ignore the Holy Spirit’s promptings.

Scripture

Our verse for today is in Matthew 10:33, “But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.”

Background

Certain things we just can’t ignore. When that low fuel warning light comes on in the car, it’s only a matter of time before you either fill up or find yourself stranded on the side of the road. When you get your report back from the doctor and he says your blood pressure is extremely high or your insulin is too low, you either address the problem, or you may not be around long enough to have a next appointment. We heed these warnings, and so many others like them, because we have seen the consequences play out, sometimes all too swiftly and unexpectedly. But what do we do with the warnings and messages from God? We read His Bible and listen to sermons, but what do we do with the words we hear? What are you doing with something the Lord is telling you? Is there a tendency in your life to put off or ignore what God wants you to do? Do you think that with so many other believers doing His work, God won’t mind if you give Him the cold shoulder? Our verse for today would seem to say otherwise. A calling from God is not just for those who go to seminary and come out to be preachers and church leaders. The Holy Spirit is not in the majority of us to enjoy a vacation, while the pastors and teachers spend their time ministering to our needs. Jesus has saved you for a purpose. He can make worshippers out of rocks if He wants to, but He has chosen you to do something, be somebody, or go somewhere.

Application

Are you really going to stand there and say no to the prompting God is giving you? What reason could there be to make you deny Him? If you hide behind uncertainty or the fear of the unknown, what is that telling you about your faith? If you can’t find the motivation or the reassurance, what does that say about your prayer and devotion time? There are over 31,000 verses and almost 1200 chapters in the Bible. Surely a few of them were meant for you. Answer the call He is giving you while He is still giving you the chance.

Charge

As we seek Him today, look at the Jesus you say you serve, and tell Him the honest truth about your commitment. Listen with a willing heart to what you are hearing. Remember it’s the voice of your loving Father.
