A brief Excerpt: The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not wishful thinking or religious tradition. Scripture gives many infallible proofs that Christ truly rose, strengthening faith, hope, and confidence in God’s promises.

The Old Testament Foretold the Resurrection

Every year as Easter approaches, believers around the world return to the heart of our faith — the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is not merely a cherished tradition or a hopeful story passed down through generations. Scripture tells us that the risen Christ presented Himself alive “by many infallible proofs” (Acts 1:3). That phrase is strong. It means the evidence is solid, reliable, and able to bear the full weight of our trust. For weary hearts, aging bodies, and believers who have walked with the Lord for many years, these proofs are not just historical facts, but are anchors for the soul.

Prophecies That Pointed Forward to Easter

Long before Jesus walked out of the tomb, the Old Testament whispered, sang, and proclaimed that the Messiah would rise. David wrote that God would not allow His Holy One to see decay (Psalm 16:10). Isaiah declared that after the Servant poured out His life, He would “prolong His days,” pointing to life beyond death (Isaiah 53:10–12). Even the strange story of Jonah spending three days in the belly of the great fish became a prophetic sign Jesus Himself connected to His resurrection timetable (Jonah 1:17; Matthew 12:40). These ancient words were not vague predictions. They were God’s promises, planted centuries in advance, waiting for their fulfillment in Christ.

The Empty Tomb Stands as the First Proof

And then, on that first Easter morning, the promises burst into reality. The empty tomb became the first undeniable proof. The stone was rolled away, not so Jesus could get out, but so witnesses could look in. The angel’s announcement that He was risen (Matthew 28:5–6) was followed by the quiet, orderly arrangement of the grave clothes — details John carefully recorded because they showed no sign of theft or disturbance (John 20:6–8). If the authorities could have produced a body, they would have. But the tomb remained empty, and the world has never been the same.

Why the Grave Clothes Matter

Yet the empty tomb alone was not the only proof. The risen Christ appeared to real people, in real places, at real moments. Mary Magdalene recognized Him through her tears (John 20:11–18). Two discouraged disciples on the road to Emmaus felt their hearts burn as He opened the Scriptures, and later recognized Him in the breaking of bread (Luke 24:13–35). The disciples saw His wounds and heard His voice, first without Thomas (John 20:19–25) and then with him, leading Thomas to the confession that still echoes through the centuries (John 20:26–29). Jesus cooked breakfast for seven disciples by the Sea of Galilee (John 21:1–14). He appeared to His brother James, once a skeptic (1 Corinthians 15:7). And in one extraordinary moment, He appeared to more than 500 believers at once — an event impossible to dismiss as imagination or illusion (1 Corinthians 15:6).

Jesus Appeared Alive to Many Witnesses

These encounters were physical, personal, and repeated. They were not mystical visions or private dreams. They were infallible proofs.

Transformed Lives Testify to a Risen Savior

But perhaps one of the greatest proofs of all is the transformation of lives. The disciples who hid behind locked doors in fear (John 20:19) became bold witnesses who proclaimed the resurrection in the streets of Jerusalem (Acts 2:22–24). People do not willingly suffer, and certainly do not die, for something they know is false. Something happened to them. Someone met them. And their lives were never the same.

Thomas, Paul, and the Power of Eyewitness Testimony

Then there is Paul. Once a fierce persecutor of the church, he encountered the risen Christ on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1–6). That encounter turned a destroyer of the faith into one of its greatest defenders. Paul later wrote that he too had seen the risen Lord (1 Corinthians 15:8). His transformed life stands as a living testimony to resurrection power.

The birth of the church itself is another proof. How does a movement centered on a crucified Messiah survive, let alone flourish, unless He truly rose? The early believers did not gather to remember a fallen leader but to worship a living Savior.

The Resurrection Gives Believers Living Hope

These proofs are not just for the mind; they are for the heart. The resurrection confirms Jesus’ identity as the Son of God (Romans 1:4). It assures us that His sacrifice accomplished our salvation and that we are justified before God (Romans 4:25). It gives us a living hope that cannot fade, anchored in the risen Christ (1 Peter 1:3). And it reminds us that because He lives, we too shall live (John 14:19).

Why the Resurrection Still Matters Today

For seniors who have walked many miles with the Lord, these truths shine with even greater sweetness. The resurrection tells us that death does not have the final word. Our bodies may weaken, our steps may slow, and our days may feel shorter, but the risen Christ promises life beyond this life. He promises His presence now and His glory later. He promises that the same power that raised Him from the dead is at work in us today.

The infallible proofs of the resurrection are not dusty relics of ancient history. They are living testimonies that speak to our fears, strengthen our faith, and steady our hope. They remind us that we follow a Savior who conquered death, keeps His promises, and walks with us still.

He is risen indeed — and the proofs still speak.
