Recently I wrote a post entitled, “Christian Salvation is not for Everyone.” The end of that brief article was a recognition that when we are informed of the truth of the gospel message, we are confronted with a decision to make. It reads …
“Or one can reject it all as folly. The choice is yours, as are the consequences.”
A reader on our Medium platform highlighted the sentence above and responded to it as follows:
“I love this because people will often make the argument, why would a loving God send people to hell? No, God didn’t send you to hell, but the choices that you made did, and there are consequences to those choices.”
My Brief Response
I agree in principle, but we know that general revelation will not save anyone, and thousands die every day without ever hearing the word “Jesus,” much less the plan of salvation. That reality forces us to seek a faith that transcends our own sense of fairness.
We are forced to fully trust God as the definition of love (1 John 4:8), even in the face of this reality. That is the very definition of faith …
Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
