Theology on the Lighter Side – Why do churches love gardening? – Because they love to plant seeds of faith!

At the end of each of our lives will be a fork in the road … Heaven or Hell … for eternity. This is a fundamental reality of a Biblical Christian worldview, often not something discussed openly. There are those who believe everyone will go to Heaven (Universalism), and those who believe those who don’t make the cut will be destroyed (Annihilationism) rather than experience an eternal separation from God. Finally, of course, there are those who don’t believe there is an afterlife (Atheists), etc.

For the thinking Christian, there is/should be an ever-present desire to share the Good News of the Gospel message, respectfully, to anyone willing to listen. We are called to spread the seeds of our faith as far and wide as we can. Further, we are commanded to follow up to see if any have germinated, and to water them. However, that is the extent of our responsibility before the Lord. We do the gardening by planting and watering, but God, and only God, causes the growth in the hearts of those who seek Him.

1 Corinthians 3:6-7 - I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
