A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – The priority of unbelievers is typically, “what is most pleasing to my neighbor” or, more often, “what is most pleasing to me.” Sadly, the same is true for many Christians since we remain sinners after salvation. The Holy Spirit should be pricking our heart, but that is no guarantee we are tuned so as to sense that guilt and remorse for our actions.
For the Biblical Christian, the question should be “what is most pleasing to God” which often interferes with our ordered and self-centered lives.
To know what God’s desires are for us we need to read His Word and draw close to Him in prayer and fellowship with other believers. Without that personal contact, we will fall away as life tramples us under foot.
To say pat phrases such as, “just love your neighbor and everything will work out for the best,” falls far short of the mark He has established that we, as believers, should be reaching for (Philippines 3:14).
The best way to know God is to study the Bible. If one rejects God’s love letter to mankind, we fall into the trap of seeking “what do I want to do,” not “what does God want me to do.” The more we follow the former and deconstruct from the latter, the farther and farther we fall away from a personal relationship with our Savior and Lord.
