The things that we love tell us what we are.
— Thomas Aquinas (1225–1274), Summa Theologica
We live in a world full of noise, clutter, chaos,
where every turn brings a new question,
a new voice trying to shape us.
I was talking to a friend the other day. She sighed and said,
I don’t know anymore. Everything’s changing so fast,
and honestly, I’m not sure what’s true what’s a lie.
I could hear the frustration in her voice.
I get it. We’re all pulled in a million different directions.
It matters how you see the world and
the lens you choose.
It matters when you wake up,
decide to love or judge,
whether you speak or stay silent,
and how you respond to pain.
So I asked her, What lens are you looking through?
She gave me that ‘not sure’ look.
She shrugged and said,
I don’t know. I just, kinda, follow my heart.
I paused to think.
Ya, that’s what we’re all told,
But my heart… sometimes, it needs something steadier to lean on.
Follow your own path; trust yourself…
But what if there’s something bigger?
What if the truth is more than just listening to our hearts?
I thought about it for a second, then said,
What if the Word is the lens that shows you more?
In all things, God works for the good of those who love him. ¹
It’s not about everything magically turning out fine,
but finding meaning in the mess.
See, I am doing a new thing! ²
Sometimes, new beginnings are messy,
but that’s when we grow.
Your worldview matters —
it shapes who you are,
how you love,
how you serve.
And when your worldview aligns with His,
you shine with a light the world can’t ignore.
Afterthought
Choosing the right lens to view the world isn’t just about preference. It’s about uniting your self with the truth that brings healing, purpose, and a life worth living.
