A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – Many falsely see God as a partner in life and approach the relationship with an expectation of parity. For them, to disagree with God is similar to rejecting the opinion of a friend. For example, if the Bible says we should honor the sanctity of life and you believe in the full autonomy of a woman’s right to an abortion, that is a difference of opinion among friends (you and God).
The Creator of the universe expects more from our relationship with Him. The Lord sent His Son to die on the cross for our sins on the precondition that we would accept Him as BOTH our Savior AND our Lord.
Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Webster defines the word Lord as “one having power and authority over others.”
Therefore, God is a friend to those who love Him, and recognize He has “power and authority” over our lives. We are not in a peer-to-peer, adult relationship with God but come to Him with child-like faith as “little children,” as one would approach their parents in the human sense. The difference, of course, is that unlike our human parents, God is perfect in His wisdom and has our eternity in the palm of His hand.
Matthew 18:3 “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
