Why was Goliath so surprised when David hit him?

The thought had never “entered” his mind before!

Theology on the Lighter Side – Why was Goliath so surprised when David hit him? – The thought had never “entered” his mind before!

In our fight against the evil one, it is never the size of the weapon that is important. It is the one behind the weapon that determines the outcome.

Romans 8:31-33 – What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

In the book of Ephesians on the subject of spiritual warfare, we are given a number of defensive weapons, however, only one offensive “sword,” which is the Word of God, the Bible (Ephesians 6:17). David did not have the full message of Jesus Christ that we enjoy today.

As we face those who reject our faith as frivolous at best, and antisocial at worst, we need to be reminded that the Lord will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). His Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:11) as we offer a grace-filled sharing of the Good News.
