Theology on the Lighter Side – Why didn’t anyone want to fight Goliath? It seemed like a giant ordeal.
Imagine the fear in the heart of the Israelites as they were being forced to decide who would fight the giant, Goliath? For 40 days, none of God’s chosen people had the faith to trust that God would be with them in a one-on-one fight with the Philistine, Goliath. David shows up to see how the battle is going in order to report back to his dad, and volunteered to fight the giant on behalf of Israel. King Saul was so desperate to find a volunteer he agreed and, with no battle dress, David’s faith and trust in God killed Goliath with a rock and a sling. How many of us are Davids? How many of us have faith the size of a mustard seed?
Matthew 17:20 – He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
