Words of Wisdom from the Babylon Bee Theology on the Lighter Side – Why did the man refuse to take his fishing pole to heaven? – Because he heard there were no more “seas!”
Revelation 21:1 – Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
However, there will certainly be at least one river to perhaps fish in ….
Revelation 22:1 – Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
A Biblical Christian worldview defaults to a literal interpretation unless the context suggests otherwise. There is no reason to suggest that John, in this passage, is not literally describing a lack of “seas” in his vision of the New Heaven. Of course, there are those who view the “sea” in the figurative context, suggesting it represents no conflicts in Heaven, as the ocean was often seen as a barrier between nations and a place of storms and shipwrecks.
As we await our eternal home, born-again believers can be assured it will be beyond our imagination.
