Theology on the Lighter Side – Why did the Christian stop using social media? – Because they wanted to follow Jesus instead!
How many hours a day do you spend on social media? According to a SocialPilot, there are 5.24 billion social media users who spend 12 billion hours a day on various platforms. Major social media users are between 18 and 29 years old. Statista estimates that, in 2024, individuals spent an average of nearly 2.5 hrs/day social networking worldwide.
Consider if the average person spent 2.5 hrs/day studying the Bible, praying, and worshiping God instead of camping on social media and social networking platforms. Over the last 25 years, we have become addicted to our phones, often so absorbed in their use that we miss the world around us. This obsession has also drawn us, like an idol, away from all forms of Biblical Christian spiritual enrichment.
1 Corinthians 10:14 – Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
