Theology on the Lighter Side – Why did the Christian musician always smile? – Because they made a joyful noise unto the Lord!
Have you ever been to a “worship” service with a praise band or a choir offering a song with faces that peer out at the congregation like they are at a solemn funeral? … Not a good look for engagement.
Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! - Psalm 98:4
A major part of any Sunday morning service is worship music, regardless of what genre your church engages in. And it should be presented as praise and worship, not a dirge. The faces of the praise team (or choir) are what the congregation is focused on as much or perhaps more than the lyrics or melody.
Address one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart. - Ephesians 5:19
For those who have been blessed with the talents and desire to participate in this significant role in a church service, remember that you are communicating not only your heart but also as an ambassador for the Lord as you sing out your praises to Him, leading the congregation to do likewise.
