Providing insight on the intersection of contemporary issues and theology, based on a Biblical Christian Worldview.

“Who appointed you gate keeper to Heaven and Hell, if they exist?

Biblical Christians are not called to be "gate keepers", but we are the ambassadors of the One who is.

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – The following comment came from a reader who was understandably critical of my calling out the Roman Catholic theology as works-based rather than grace-based.

His Comment

You are part of the biblical inerrancy crowd? Sad to break it to you, your favorite book has a lot of errors, inaccuracies, cruelty and some good parts as well …. Do you love your neighbor as yourself? Do you judge the speck in your neighbor’s eye or are you minding the log in yours? Who appointed you gate keeper to heaven and hell, if they exist?

My Response

We all have our worldviews. Radical Muslims behead those who reject their views. Not to think of myself more highly than I should, I am one [of many] calling out in the contemporary wilderness (Isaiah 43:3-8) to make straight the path of the Lord (Isaiah 40:3).

If you believed your wife or kids were going to go to Hell for eternity if they did not believe, by faith, in God’s grace through Jesus Christ as the only path that would keep them out of Hell (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9), would you not want to pass your views along to them?

The ultimate love of our neighbor goes beyond the Good Samaritan’s help for the downtrodden on earth. The ultimate love of God is to share His Good News and call out those who are pointing people in the opposite direction. So, as an ambassador for Christ (1 Corinthians 5:20), which is the honor of every Christian, HE appointed me and millions of others throughout time, “gate keeper to heaven and hell,” ONLY in the sense of offering God’s plan of salvation to those who are willing to listen. The decision on who will accept that plea and corrections of false teachings is up to the individual and God (1 Corinthians 3:6-7).

However, the answer to that question of which way one will go upon death must be decided while one is still alive.
